Major players like Google and Yahoo are spending billions to develop better ways to distribute information that people are looking for and are looking to do it quickly from every angle including new technological advances in the every day tools we use in life and turning them into Information products. Microsoft is considered the father of software companies when considering how young and fast growing Google and Yahoo are. It took Microsoft a good 15 years or so to make it a household name. The internet information age is pipelined to us 24-7 and who can give us that information the fastest way and the most ready available way to receive it is going to be the $$$ powerhouse. When has being a Geek been so cool.

With the wide spread ready available pipeline of information on hand, how are we going to receive this information when we want it. Wireless devices have increased 10 fold in the past 5 years and will continue to increase for many years to come. These wireless devices will learn your habits and be able to perform tasks by programming from information you have provided to them. Location based services will provide information and services to people and consumers in certain geographic locations. Our cars and handheld devices are now made with applications like Bluetooth that can talk to multiple devices and exchange information at will. Digital paper is now being developed that can deliver information and ads by the way of a wireless signal. Wireless medical devices are increasing for medical specialist to learn and transfer information on patients. Doctors can prescribe medicine to you and then you can pick it up at a (PVM) prescription vending machine. Think about it when Google wants to send an ad to billboards world-wide or a specific targeted location with a wireless signal. These wireless devices are not going to depend on wired data and power. The internet will become wireless and be able to support its infrastructure as so. Power for these wireless devices will be derived from solar cells and like light be able to transfer that power thru the airwaves similar to as a laser does. With power being able to transfer with a wireless signal, these wireless devices and digital paper are going to become more expendable and less costly. This kind of technology and information will have an unprecedented effect on how we live our lives by the means of how we support our living habits “digital jobs” and the way we dispose of our income “digital money”.

More jobs are being created by software companies and the internet every day. Jobs are shifting from physical labor to white collar duties world-wide. The fastest growing job sectors are digital jobs (software and internet related), entertainment, hospitality and medical. People are able to make small start-up companies from their garage. Capitalizing on the internet to reach a world-wide audience to make money has shifted commerce into e-commerce. Digital money is moving about the internet from e-commerce thru online banks like Pay-Pal. Spending digital money is so easy and at the push of a button. Most money will be spent online for information, gaming, and adult related services.

People drive the big 3 “Yahoo” “MSN” and “Google”. Yahoo and MSN are information portals to find anything you may need, offering every kind of service you are looking for. Google is now more becoming an information portal with offerings of new services every few months. People support the big 3 thru online spending of advertising and information services provided by these companies. The futures of these companies depend on consumers. The internet is going to be driven by online communities of people. People can shift their opinion on products and services, digital word of mouth will have a major effect on what services are going to make it and what will not. Roving communities shifting in the way they spend their digital money will be able to make or break you on the internet. Online groups with members in the thousand and possibly the millions will be marketed by these portals offering services for their interests. Communities are developing based on age, gender, ethnicity and interests. Providing information and services for these communities and harnessing them all in 1 portal is a task at hand that yahoo has been mastering. MSN is a close second and has digital experience behind them, but when it comes to Information supply and demand Google is the powerhouse for now.

These software companies are shaping the internet with people by providing information and products to service their every need. Integrating jobs, software, entertainment, e-commerce, internet gateways such as “wireless devices and internet browsers,” with information and people has already begun. Search engines as portals for online communities are here and will be the future of the internet. Controlling the pipeline of information to consumers and business is where the money is at and will be in the future. However people and the popularity of communities will be able to shift resources and control where their digital money is spent. If consumers do not like services offered they will switch to other portals and communities. This is why the big 3 are spending billions on research and development as well as buying up internet related information resources and tools. The future of internet and the effects on the way of life is ultimately controlled by the people and will always be. This is only the tip of the iceberg in its infancy.
